چکیده

In the present work, treatment of a mixture six emerging pollutants (acetamiprid, acetaminophen, caffeine, amoxicillin, clofibric acid and carbamazepine) by means photo-Fenton process has been studied, using simulated sunlight as an irradiation source. Removal these investigated in three different aqueous matrices distinguished amount chlorides (distilled water, 1 g L?1 NaCl 30 NaCl) at pH 2.8 5.0. Interestingly, presence was able to slightly accelerate removal = 5, although reverse true 2.8. This is attributed pH-dependent interference on process, that more acute acidic medium. As matter fact, fastest reaction obtained 3.5, agreement with literature results. Monitoring hydrogen peroxide consumption iron solution indicates due changes interaction between peroxide, rather than scavenging effect chloride for hydroxyl radicals. Experiments were also carried out real seawater showed higher inhibition experiments, probably dissolved salts natural water.

Importance of Iron Complexation for Fenton-Mediated Hydroxyl Radical Production at Circumneutral pH

The reaction between Fe(II) and H2O2 to yield hydroxyl radicals (HO ), the Fenton reaction, is of interest due to its role in trace metal and natural organic matter biogeochemistry, its utility in water treatment and its role in oxidative cell degradation and associated human disease. There is significant dispute over whether HO, the most reactive of the so-called reactive oxygen species (ROS),...

Oxidation of TNT by photo-Fenton process.

A series of photo-Fenton reactions have been performed for the degradation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) in a 4.2-l reactor. The degradation reaction rate of TNT followed a pseudo-first-order behavior; and the rate constants for 2.4mW cm(-2)UV only, 2.4mW cm(-2)UV/H(2)O(2), Fenton, photo-Fenton (2.4mW cm(-2)) and photo-Fenton (4.7mW cm(-2)) were 0.002min(-1), 0.007min(-1), 0.014min(-1), 0.025m...

Effect of UV light on pentachlorophenol removal in the electro-Fenton process

Background: This research studied the effect of UV light on pentachlorophenol (PCP) removal in the electro-Fenton (EF) process. Methods: PCP was used as the pollutant in this study. The effects of Fenton’s reagent, i.e. hydrogen peroxide concentration, solution pH, and treatment time by EF (EF) and photoelectro-Fenton (PEF) processes, were studied to determine rates of PCP removal. The r...
